Two arrested over fatal shooting outside Deception Bay house

Police have arrested two men and taken them to Redcliffe Police Station for questioning in relation to a fatal shooting north of Brisbane overnight.

Clinton Pollock, 35, was shot dead after a small group of men visited his home in Deception Bay and a fight broke out in the front yard at around 11:30pm on Sunday, police said.

Mr Pollock was shot in the chest and his sister commenced CPR, but he died at the scene in Thompson Street.

Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Hogan said police believed the victim knew the offenders.

"We believe there wasn't an altercation before — there were some verbal exchanges but no physical altercation," he said.

He said it was a traumatic event for Mr Pollock's sister.

"It's that time, especially around Father's Day, when families come together — it's an absolutely tragic event and she's devastated … and the family are trying to process through the grief," he said.

"[There were] some wonderful actions by the neighbours who've really come together.

"Unfortunately the man did pass away but they did their best."

The men fled in a car and a police search is underway. Homes in the area are being doorknocked.

Neighbour Scott Murrihy said he heard "just a bang" at about 11:30pm.

"I didn't see anyone — we were all upstairs — it sounded like a fire cracker," he said.

Michelle Murrihy, Mr Murrihy's sister, said she watching television with her daughter.

"We heard a loud bang and a bit of a scream," she said.

"We've just gone running outside and got told Clint had been shot and that people had run off — just jumped in the car and took off.

"They called him [Clint] outside and as soon as he walked out to the gate they shot him and just took off in the car.

"It was pretty wild, it happened pretty quick."

Police are appealing for anyone with information or relevant dashcam or CCTV footage to contact officers.
