Man shot dead in Englewood: police

A man was killed in a shooting Tuesday afternoon in Englewood on the South Side, police said.

About 12:55 p.m., the 31-year-old was in the 7400 block of South Stewart Avenue when a dark-colored vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire, striking him in the head and torso, Chicago police said.

The man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Chicago police said.

Area One detectives are investigating.
