Man shot dead in Austin neighborhood: police

An 18-year-old man was fatally shot Thursday in Austin on the West Side, police said.

Xavier Netisingha was in the 1700 block of North Linder when two males approached on foot and fired shots, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He was struck in the head and pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Area North detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
