SAMUT PRAKAN: An angry neighbour shot dead a 20-year-old tenant who ignored requests to turn down the volume of his blaring car audio system in Bang Phli district on Monday night.

The shooter then returned to his room and waited for Bang Sao Thong district police to arrive.

The dead man was identified as Chaiwat Yothaphakdi, from the northeastern province of Maha Sarakham, and the shooter was Sombun Nokkhao, 38, police said.

Chaiwat who lived in Tower 6 and was partying with two other people beside his parked pickup truck, equipped with a powerful sound system that was booming out loud music and disturbing other tenants, police said.

Highly disturbed by the blaring music, Mr Sombun, who lives in Tower 5, went downstairs to the partying group and told Chaiwat to keep the volume down, which he refused to do, police said.

Angered by his stubborn refusal, Mr Sombun went back to his room and he returned to the scene with a gun in hand, police said.

He put Chaiwat in a headlock, put the pistol to the man's temple and pulled the trigger, according to police. The victim collapsed dead onto the bed of his truck as his two friends ran for dear life.

The incident was reported about 9.30pm. The gun used in the shooting was a .22 calibre revolver, police said.

Mr Sombun was charged with murder, unauthorised possession of a firearm and carrying a firearm in public without justifiable reason, police said.

Project No.4 of the Muang Mai Bang Phli housing project where the shooting occurred consists of a number of low-rise buildings housing small flats.
