A man shot dead by police after allegedly threatening them with a knife on a motorway south of Brisbane has reportedly been identified.
Media reports indicate the 22-year-old is Raghe Abdi from Calamvale, however police are unable to confirm his name at this stage.
Officers responded to reports of a man walking alongside the Logan Motorway and creating a hazard to drivers at about 6am on Thursday.
When they arrived the man threatened them with a knife before he was shot.
Police tried to give him first aid, but he died at the scene.
Abdi was granted bail in September after being held for 414 days on charges of attempting to pervert the course of justice and failing to comply with an order.
He was initially arrested by counter-terrorism police in May 2019 while trying to board a flight to Somalia with a one-way ticket.
At the time officers were concerned he was going to Somalia to fight for ISIS in that country's civil war.
It's alleged he tried to pervert the course of justice by attempting to get his mother and a friend to withdraw their statements about him in June and July last year.
Abdi was also charged with failing to provide his phone access information to police on June 14.
It's understood that his shooting death may have been the result of a mental health episode rather than being related to extremism.
The Logan Motorway has been closed eastbound and significant delays are expected for most of the day.
