A man has been shot by police after a disturbance at a restaurant in southeast Melbourne.
He was hit in the lower body and taken to hospital with a non-life threatening injury, Victoria Police said.
They said officers responded to reports of people causing trouble at a restaurant on Lauderdale Rd in Narre Warren.
"Officers were confronted with an agitated man wielding an edged weapon who charged at them," police said in a statement on Monday.
"A police firearm was discharged and the man was struck to the lower body."
The armed crime squad will investigate the incident, with oversight from Professional Standards Command.
