May 27--A man was shot in the stomach by police Tuesday night and another was arrested in Westlake, police said.
The man who was shot, who has not been identified, was hospitalized in critical but stable condition, Los Angeles police Sgt. Frank Preciado told reporters.
No officers were hurt.
The incident began about 10 p.m. when officers were flagged down by two men who said two other men had pointed a gun at them, near 6th and Coronado streets.
One of the two men complied with officers' orders to surrender and was arrested.
But the second man pointed a gun at them and was shot in the abdomen, Preciado said.
A handgun was recovered at the scene. It was unclear why the men pointed the gun at the other two men.
The Westlake shooting came three days after a man was shot by police in Hollywood.
Officers on foot patrol on Sunday saw Stephens remove a handgun from the back of an SUV, then follow three men who were walking away, the LAPD said. Moments later, in the area of Cherokee Street and Hollywood Boulevard, he was shot by police.
No officers were hurt and a handgun was recovered, the LAPD said.
Tegan James Stephens, 33, of Las Vegas was treated at a hospital for his wounds and booked on suspicion of exhibiting a firearm in the presence of officers.
The shooting will be reviewed by the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.
