Man shot and killed in South Chicago: police

Officers found a man with a gunshot wound to his chest in the 7900 block of South Luella Avenue, June 17, 2019, in South Chicago.

A 25-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to his chest Sunday in South Chicago.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert about 11:23 p.m. in the 7900 block of South Luella Avenue and found him in the drivers seat of an upside down vehicle, Chicago police said. He seemed to have crashed into some parked cars.

The man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Officials don’t have any witnesses, and the circumstances of the shooting are unknown, police said.

Area South detectives are investigating.
