Man shot and killed by North Aurora police after refusing to drop gun outside home, officials say

North Aurora police shot and killed a man who repeatedly pointed a gun at officers outside a home Tuesday night, authorities said.

The officers had been called to the home in the 400 block of Pine Creek Drive around 9:25 p.m. for a person who was acting erratically, police said in a statement.

Three officers entered the home and a man approached and pointed a gun at them, police said. The officers left the home and the man followed, refusing orders to drop the gun, police said.

One of the others shot the man and he died at the scene, police said.

No other information was released. The incident is being investigated by the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force.
