Man Shoots Pregnant Ex-Girlfriend and Her Mother in Front of Children

(Tarrant County Sheriff's Office) - (Gofundme)

A Fort Worth woman and her mother are recovering after being shot during a violent home break-in last month, an attack police say was carried out by the woman’s ex-boyfriend as her three young children watched in horror. Thirty-two-year-old Sylvia Scott and her mother, Allura Stewart, were wounded in the Nov. 19 shooting at their home in the 1000 block of Beechgrove Terrace.

Family members said both women work for Crowley ISD. Scott suffered severe injuries after being shot in the neck, with the bullet traveling through her face. The wounds have left her struggling to speak and eat as she continues her recovery. Her three children, ages 8, 4, and 3, were not physically harmed but witnessed the shooting and continue to suffer emotional trauma, including recurring nightmares.

“I was shot in the neck, and it went through my face,” Scott said. According tothe Fort Worth Police Department, the suspect, 32-year-old Christopher Mike, broke into the home through a back door and waited inside. Investigators say he ambushed the family when Scott, Stewart, and the children entered through the garage, and told local KDFW.

“He just appeared out of nowhere and shot her and looked at me and shot me,” Stewart recalled. “Then he ran deeper into the house, and I thought he was going to hurt the kids.” Despite her injuries, Scott managed to crawl to her car and call 911, police said. She is pregnant with Mike’s child, and authorities confirmed her unborn baby survived the attack.

Scott told investigators she and Mike had broken up earlier in November and that his behavior became increasingly aggressive as she tried to get him to move out of the home. She said there were warning signs in the weeks leading up to the shooting. “There were a number of events that happened before this one,” Scott said.

Following the attack, Scott said she no longer feels safe at the residence and has since moved out. She also revealed that she received a notification on her phone the day of the shooting and believes Mike may have been tracking her location through an iPad left inside the house. “I don’t feel at ease,” she said.

Mike was arrested and is now facing multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, and kidnapping. Jail records did not immediately show whether he has retained legal representation. The case remains under investigation as the family continues to heal from a traumatic incident that has left lasting physical and emotional scars.
