A man shot a neighbour’s cat because it “looked at him like he owned the place”.
The 69-year-old, who has not been identified, could now face animal cruelty charges after the cat was put down due to the injuries it sustained.
Just after giving the man a look, the cat relieved itself on his property in Florida’s Ormond Beach, he informed officers.
Heidi Hatheaway, whose son found the injured animal, described the incident as “pathetic”.
"It was the most saddest thing to see a little animal, literally tears running down its face," Ms Hatheaway told News 6.
The culprit said it was a “poor judgement call” to shoot the cat and claimed he did not know it belonged to a neighbour.
He admitted to shooting cats in the past but said he had always missed.
"It was not my intention to hurt that cat. All I wanted to do was get it out in front of my walkway, stop pooping. For the flies and the smell is just horrendous," the man said, Click Orlando reported.
The owner of the cat, 60-year-old Hung Nguyen, said he still owns eight cats.
