
A man is currently recovering in the hospital after displaying immense bravery by acting as a human shield for his 21-year-old girlfriend during a harrowing carjacking incident in Washington, D.C.
The couple was seated in their vehicle in Northwest D.C. on Monday evening when an individual wearing a mask approached them and demanded their car, as per reports.
Upon attempting to drive away, the suspect opened fire, hitting both individuals five times each.


According to sources, the woman's boyfriend shielded her with his body, absorbing the majority of the bullets and sustaining a punctured lung in the process.
Despite the gunfire, the couple managed to escape the armed assailant but later crashed their vehicle a quarter-mile away.
A compassionate bystander contacted the woman's family to inform them of the incident.
One family member expressed disbelief, emphasizing the importance of feeling safe when leaving one's home and not having to fear for one's life or possessions.
The woman underwent surgery following the ordeal and is expected to undergo further medical procedures.
As of Wednesday night, the D.C. police have not made any arrests in connection with the case, and the condition of the victims remains unchanged.
Authorities stated that there is currently no actionable information regarding the suspect, and the investigation is ongoing.
