Man shattered victim's jaw as he washed his hands in 'unprovoked' nightclub assault

Police are searching for information after a man's jaw was broken in three places in an 'unprovoked' nightclub assault.

The victim, in his 20s, was in the upstairs toilets of the Est 1899 Nightclub in Railway Road, Leigh in the early hours of Sunday, February 6, when the attack happened.

He was washing his hands when another man approached him and hit him in the face, police say.

The assault left him with a broken jaw in three places - which required five days for hospital treatment and two operations.

Detectives from Wigan CID are appealing to anyone who may have been in the nightclub on Saturday (5 February) night into the early hours of the following Sunday to come forward with any information.

Officers say the attacker is a white man who was dressed in dark clothing and aged in his early 20s.

No arrests have been made and enquiries - including CCTV trawls - are ongoing.

Anyone with information should contact police online, if able, via the GMP website; or call 101 quoting incident 1429 of 13/02/2022.

Details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
