Temperatures are continuing to climb this weekend, with some areas of the UK expected to face sizzling summer heat that rises well into the 30s.
And while the weather outside might be beautiful, the stifling heat can make staying at home uncomfortable, especially when you're trying to sleep or looking for a place to cool down away from the harsh glare of the sun.
Thankfully though, there are ways you can cool down a house during a heatwave - including one method that's as simple as using nothing more than a damp towel, Express.co.uk reports.
Laundry expert Deyan Dimitrov said that all you need to do is soak some towels in some cold water before placing them in strategic locations around your house that will help to cool the air and make it more comfortable to be indoors.

The man - who is the founder of LaundryHeap - explained that the easiest way to make the hack work is to hang cold, wet towels around the home at entry points such as windows and doors, to cool down the property.
He said: “The method allows trapped water to evaporate from the surface of the towels and cool the air flowing around your house. Since this hack can be fashioned out of existing household items, it’s a cheap and useful alternative for houses that don’t have access to air conditioning.”
As the trick only requires towels, which most people will have at home already, and tap water, the hack will cost you almost nothing and could help you cool down in no time.
However, it's important to use freshly washed towels for the hack, as dirty ones will fill your house with a damp and unpleasant smell.
If you want to add an extra layer of freshness to your towels, you can also add a few drops of essential oils such as lavender to the softener compartment of the washing machine when washing your towels.
And it could also be beneficial to use light-coloured towels to reduce the amount of light they will absorb when they're hung in the sun.
You can also take steps to make your house even cooler by positioning fans next to the towels that will blow the cool air into the house.
And for more immediate relief, you can even freeze your towels by soaking them in water, placing them in a ziplock bag for protection, and putting them in the freezer for about an hour.
