Man shares section everyone should delete off their CV when applying for jobs

If you're struggling to find a new job, there could be a simple mistake you are making. Thankfully, it is easily fixed. You ought to remove specific dates from your CV, or at least according to a slew of TikTokers, who have been singing the praises of the job-hunting tip. But before you start editing your resume, you'll likely want to hear the rationale behind the trick. Thankfully, TikTok has all the answers.

The popular tip came to light after @theschoolofhardknocks featured a savvy guest in one of its popular street interviews. When quizzed about the best advice she could give her younger self, the guest replied: "To delete your graduation year from your resume, to delete it from everything that you can imagine."

A simple mistake could be costing you jobs, according to TikTokers (tiktok.com/@techbyantrell)

She went on to explain recruiters often look at a candidates' real-world experience when determining salaries - something that did not apply to her since she left education with strong work experience already under her belt. And people were quick to praise the tip, with some suggesting it can affect the outcome of your job applications too.

Echoing the same advice in a duet, @techbyantrell claimed: "This is the secret that no one listens to but I promise you will make such a huge difference in your job applications."

He explained: "Jobs are less likely to consider you if you are a recent grad trying to get your first job in the industry and they are going to pay you less if they do consider you because you're a recent grad.

"Similarly, if you graduated a long time ago and you are trying to get a job in the industry now they are going to be like, oh, they probably forgot every single thing they learned in their degree, so we're not going to hire them.

"Delete the graduation year off the resume for your masters, your certifications, your bachelors, everything. Take it off." His video has since gained over 145,000 likes from impressed viewers.

One commenter said: "This is so true! Once I learned about this age-bias, I removed my grad years and got interviews and hired despite all my years of experience. it works." And a second said: "Yes, I did that a few years ago. No one ever asked me In an interview either. Im not offering that info on resumes."

However, a different reply read: "Not true. I’m a senior recruiter for a tech company and when we hire new grads, we want know your grad year. Keep it on."

Another expert added: "I’m a recruiter. YES. Delete. Keep on if applying to new grad roles."
