Man shamed for demanding girlfriend pay for new sheets after she leaked on them

A man has been shamed for demanding that his girlfriend pay to replace his sheets after she got blood on them.

Taking to Reddit , the 26-year-old man explained that he and his girlfriend, 24, have been together for a year now, and have recently moved in together.

Most of the furniture in their place, he said, belonged to him, including the bed frame, sheets and mattress.

"I am a bit of a neat freak, and she generally is too, so we get along pretty well living together," he said - until she leaked on his bed.

"Now I'm not one of those guys that gets grossed out over a woman having her menstrual cycle.

"I've had sex with my girlfriend on lighter days with a towel down. I'll go buy her feminine products. I don't get weirded out if she mentions it. I will say though, it totally grosses me out getting on my bed though."

This is why it was a problem when he recently noticed blood on his sheets.

"I noticed a blood spot on the bed and got totally grossed out," he revealed.

"I knew she had been on her period for three days already so it wasn't any sort of surprise accident. I asked how it happened and she was upset and said she thought she didn't need to sleep with anything on."

The man thought this was “absurd” and lectured her for not using any sanitary products.

“I told her that was irresponsible and that she needed to pay me for new sheets. She agreed to pay for new sheets but got upset with me for getting angry and calling her irresponsible.”

The woman told her boyfriend about her flow and told him that she thought it was light enough that she wouldn't have to wear anything overnight.

"She says I have no reason to be angry to talk down to her over something I don't experience," he added.

“I said that she should've been more careful with where we sleep and that it was unhygienic.”

He concluded his post by asking users whether he was in the wrong for wanting her to pay for the new sheets, and people were quick to put him in his place.

One person said: "It's not that hard. Cold water and it's gone. Easy to say you're not grossed out but as soon as a drop is on your sheets you freak out and demand new bedding."

Another wrote: “I’m sorry but this is OUTRAGEOUS. As a woman, I would have packed my bags and left in that moment because you are clearly not mature enough to be with a woman or maybe you need to educate yourself a bit better."

A third commented: "Let’s not even talk about if a girlfriend ever ends up pregnant. Between the chance of water breaking then the bleeding after delivery."

Someone else said: "I wonder if this would have bothered him if this came from her nose instead."

After receiving a lot of criticism, the man later added: "To everyone saying to just wash the sheets, she did, but I just don't like the thought of it."

He also admitted: “I was a p***k for being condescending towards her and not being sensitive to her embarrassment".

While he ended up replacing the sheets himself, his girlfriend has now moved to her mum’s.

"I told her I obviously just have a weird phobia with it I need to work through. I did ask her to wear products every night until she knows it's gone, and she called me ignorant, and had no right to suggest how she handles her period."
