Man 'shaken' after being attacked and robbed on Scots street

A man was left shaken after being assaulted and robbed on a Scots street.

The incident occurred around 10.15pm on Sunday August 1 in Chryston, North Lanarkshire.

The 47-year-old man had been walking along Cumbernauld Road, near the Crow Wood Terrace junction.

He was attacked and pushed to the ground by a man who stole his personal items and mobile phone.

The suspect has been described as white, in his 20s, 5ft 8ins tall, of an average build with short blonde hair. He was clean shaven.

He was wearing a black tracksuit with white trainers at the time and spoke with a local accent.

Police are appealing for information to help their investigation.

Detective Constable Emma Macfarlane, Coatbridge CID said: "The suspect ran off towards Crowwood Road after the attack.

"At the moment we have no motive for what happened other than a robbery and it has left the man, who thankfully was not seriously injured, very shaken by what happened.

"This area of Cumbernauld Road, even at 10.15pm at night, can be busy with traffic, so I am appealing to anyone who was driving nearby, especially those with dash-cam footage, to contact police.

"We believe the suspect had been walking from a nearby hotel, so again, if you were in Cumbernauld Road near Crowwood Terrace and saw the attack or the suspect, then please call officers via 101 quoting reference number 3801 of Sunday, 1 August, 2021.

"Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 11."
