Man 'severely' hurt after car smashes into wall in Winford

A car burst into flames after crashing into a wall in Winford during the early hours of this morning.

Crews from Bedminster Fire station and paramedics rushed to the scene to tackle the blaze following the vehicle colliding with a wall. Firefighters said a man suffered 'severe' injuries to his lower body.

A spokesperson said: "Car versus wall collision in Winford North Somerset overnight. One male casualty with severe lower body injuries in the care of SWASFT.

"Two firefighters using a high-pressure hosereel extinguished the subsequent fire."

Bristol Airport then put out a warning to travellers due to the incident causing delays on the A38.

Bristol Airport tweeted: "We have been advised by Avon and Somerset Police that Regil Lane , which passes through Winford is closed due to a traffic incident. Passengers are advised to find alternate routes and allow additional time to travel to the airport."
