Man sets up 'Rent-a-Daddy' service for £16 an hour to fill in for deadbeat dads

A man is offering his services as a 'Rent-a-Daddy' to plug the gap left by deadbeat dads.

Jake Orr has set himself up as a fill-in parent to youngsters who have a father missing in their lives.

The tongue-in-cheek service offers to spend time with a child one or two weekends per month, attend sporting events, take part in three activities of the child's choice  and do the school run and pick ups.

Posting to his Facebook page, Jake said: "Trying out a new career move to get away from trucks so everybody get onboard and support your boy. Rent a daddy today."

Jake, who is from new South Wales in Australia, has set the service up in his home town, but is already been in demand from around the globe.

One woman from America, said: "Alabama, USA here. I know many that need your professional services."

A British mum said: "is there a UK service yet?"

While some thought the post was just a prank, others praised Jake for his inventive idea.

One said: "This is actually a great business idea. Remove the private time and date night section that makes you sound like a gigolo lol. The rest is super sweet and could really be used. Also great for the kids!"

Another added: "Saw this the other day and thought it was pretty cool, my kids would actually have a father figure. Money well spent."
