Man seriously injured in overnight road crash as he crossed Corbally Road, Limerick

A man has been seriously injured in a road crash overnight.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the collision, which happened at the roundabout at Corbally Road, near the Grove shopping centre in Limerick at around 1.30am this morning.

The man, in his 40s, was hit by a car as he crossed the road.

He was taken to University Hospital Limerick with injuries described as serious.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

The road is currently closed to traffic and local diversions are in place.

A Garda forensic team has been requested to examine the crash site scene.

A Garda statement read: "Gardaí are appealing to any motorists who may have travelled on the road, to any motorists who may have camera footage of the incident or any witnesses to the collision to contact them at Henry St Garda station on 061-212400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station."
