Man seriously injured in hospital after falling from flat window in Edinburgh

A man has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after plunging from a window in Edinburgh.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Bank Street shortly before 7am on Friday, June 4, when the alarm was raised.

Officers have closed off the city centre road as they carry out enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

We earlier told how motorists were being urged to avoid the area while public transport was subject to delays due to the road closure.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 6.55am on Friday, 4 June, we received a report that a 21-year-old man had fallen from a window in Bank Street, Edinburgh.

“The man has been taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.

“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances."

The latest window fall comes just days after Edinburgh Napier University student Torbjorn Svele Hagen tragically lost his life.

The 23-year-old is believed to have been smoking a cigarette and listening to music when he leaned too far out of the window of his third-floor flat in Lauriston Gardens on Tuesday.

Emergency services raced to the scene but the tragic young man was pronounced dead a short time later.
