Man seriously injured in hospital after being found on Scots street as cops appeal for witnesses

A police probe has been launched after a man was found seriously injured on an Ayrshire street.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Kilwinning at around 1.15am on Saturday, July 4, after the man was discovered lying on the ground.

He was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are described as “serious”, while an investigation gets underway.

Officers from Police Scotland are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the assault, which happened in Morville Crescent at its junction with David Gage Street.

Detective Inspector Laura Young, of Ayrshire CID, said: "There are a number of flats that overlook the area where the man was found and we are asking anyone who may have seen something from their home to get in touch.

"If you have any information which could assist our investigation, please contact police on 101, quoting incident number 0662 of 4 July.

“Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
