Man seriously injured in Co Down crash

A man has been taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries following a collision on the Portaferry Road on Wednesday.

Two cars collided on the road in Newtownards just before 8.45am.

The man in his 60s was taken to hospital after emergency services responded, with his injuries described as serious.

The road was closed for some time following the incident but has since reopened.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam footage, to contact them on 101 or through the Crimestoppers charity.
