Man seriously injured in attack after row about social distancing in KFC queue

A man was seriously injured in an attack over social distancing while queuing at a KFC branch.

The victim got into an argument with a woman about the two-metre rules while waiting for fried chicken.

During the row, he was assaulted by a man she was with, knocking him into a wall and leaving him needing hospital treatment.

The suspect was with a little girl carrying a teddy bear when the attack happened at around 11am on Sunday at Cobham Services off the M25.

Surrey Police has released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to about the attack.

The man is in his early 40s, 6ft 3in, of a muscular build with tanned skin and "possibly of mixed race".

He was wearing a red T-shirt, a blue face mask and was bald or had short black hair.

The woman he was with is described as 5ft 8in tall, mixed race with black curly hair and was wearing glasses and a baseball cap.

Police Constable Jess Jaensch, of Surrey Police, said: “This was an unprovoked attack during an altercation over social distancing, at a busy time with lots of potential eyewitnesses.

"If you saw this incident or have any information that can assist our investigation, we want to hear from you.”

Anyone with information should call Surrey Police on 101.
