Man seriously injured in assault by group of men on Haddington Road, Dublin

Gardai are investigating after a man was assaulted near the Aviva Stadium on Sunday.

A group of men approached the 51-year-old on the Haddington Road shortly before 5pm and assaulted him.

He sustained serious face and head injuries and remains in hospital.

Gardai say “a significant number of people” were in the area at the time following an international rugby match.

They are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage to come forward.

A spokesperson said: “There was a significant number of people in the area at the time following the international rugby match and investigating gardai are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

“They are particularly appealing to anyone with camera footage and motorists with dashcam from the Haddington Road area between 4.30pm and 5.30pm to make it available to them.”
