Man seriously injured following stabbing in south Manchester

A man was seriously injured after he was stabbed in south Manchester.

The 30-year-old was attacked on Heathwood Road in Burnage tonight (Tuesday).

Police were called to the scene at about 7.45pm.

The victim was rushed to hospital with injuries believed to be serious but not life-threatening.

No arrests have been made at this stage, a spokesman for GMP said.

Photos from the scene showed the small residential street, near Kingsway, was cordoned off at the junction with Ivylea Road.

A car within the cordon had a smashed window.

A police spokesman said: "Police received a call at 7.45pm to reports of a stabbing.

"Police attended and located a 30-year-old with injuries consistent with the stabbing.

"He is being treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries.

"No arrests have been made and officers are still in attendance."

The spokesman confirmed there is not believed to be a 'wider risk' to the public following the attack.
