Man seriously injured during late night attack on quiet lane

A man is in hospital with serious injuries after he was assaulted on a quiet lane in Bury.

The 44-year-old victim was approached by two people who assaulted him late on Friday night (July 24).

Police were called to School Street shortly after 11pm.

The victim was taken to hospital where he remains for treatment of serious injuries. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

A police cordon is currently in place on the road close to Pimhole Community Farm.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “Police were called shortly after 11pm on Friday 24 July 2020 to a report of an assault on School Street, Bury.

“A man was approached by two offenders who assaulted him.

“The victim, a man aged 44, was taken to hospital, where he remains for treatment of serious injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

Anyone with any information about the assault it urged to call police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
