Man seriously injured during brutal attack in Glasgow city centre

Cops are searching for information after a 25-year-old man was seriously assaulted in Glasgow city centre .

Police say the Saturday night attack occurred in the Trongate area on May 4.

At round 9.45pm the victim was pushed to the ground and punched in the face by another man, who then ran off towards Argyle Street and Central Station.

The vicious assault left the 25-year-old requiring treatment for a broken ankle and facial injury at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

The culprit is described as white, around 5ft 9 or 5ft 10, in his mid to late 30’s with a stocky build and shaved head.  He was wearing blue jeans and a blue jumper.

Detective Constable Leigh-Anne Sutherland at Stewart Street CID said: “This would appear to be a totally unprovoked attack which has left the young man with serious injuries.

“The city centre would have been busy at the time of the attack and therefore I’m anxious to speak to anyone who either witnessed the incident or anyone who may have seen the culprit afterwards.”
