Man seriously injured as police called to incident in Rochdale street

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a police incident in Rochdale.

It came after emergency services were called to Trafalgar Street in the Wardleworth area of town just after 9pm on Monday evening.

Footage shows a police van and several ambulances at the scene.

A number of people can also be seen gathered on the pavement.

An ambulance spokesperson said the victim was in his late 20s.

No further details on the nature of his injuries or how he came by them has been released at this stage.

Witnesses said Trafalgar Street, close to its junction with Ramsay Street, was cordoned off for a time after the incident.

Detectives were also reported to have attended the scene.

A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said: "At 9.16pm we attended the scene with three rapid response vehicles, an ambulance and an operational commander.

Greater Manchester Police have not responded to requests for further details on the incident.
