Man seriously injured after van collides with tractor trailer

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after his van collided with a trailer being towed by a JCB tractor.

The driver, who has not been named by police, was driving in a white Nissan van on the A96 between Dalcross and Nairn on Tuesday October 4. His vehicle collided with the trailer at around 11am, prompting an emergency service response.

Fire crews worked to free the man from the vehicle following the collision, after which he was passed into the care of Scottish Ambulance Service paramedics. He was then taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness with "serious, but not life-threatening" injuries.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were alerted at 11.02am on Tuesday October 4 to reports of an incident involving a van and a tractor on Station Road, near the B9006. Operations control mobilised five appliances and specialist resources to the area.

“One casualty was extricated from the vehicle and handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.”

Road policing cops have now launched a probe into the incident and are appealing for witnesses and anyone with any information on the smash to get in touch.

Sergeant Calum MacAulay, from the Dingwall Road Policing Unit, said: “We’re appealing for anyone who was on that stretch of the A96 on Tuesday morning and may have seen the vehicles involved, or have potential dashcam footage, to please come forward.

“If you believe you can assist our enquiries, please call 101, quoting incident 0979 of 4 October, 2022."
