Man seriously injured after gas explosion at house in Co Kerry

A man has been seriously injured following a suspected gas explosion at a house in Listowel, Co. Kerry.

The explosion happened on Thursday at approximately 5.30pm in a housing estate in the Clieveragh area.

Three units from two separate fire emergency services in Kerry quickly arrived at the scene of the suspected explosion.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed they attended the scene, and one man was taken to Cork University Hospital, where he is being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

They said: “The fire caused serious damage to the premises.”

A call was made to the emergency services at 5.27 pm, to which two units from Listowel Fire Service and one from Ballybunion Fire Service responded.

Foul play is not suspected at this time.
