Man seriously injured after Ford Fiesta crashes into ditch off A46

A man in his 50s is has been taken to the Queen's Medical Centre with serious injuries following a crash on the A46.

Officers were called to the road at around 7.40am on Sunday, September 6 after reports suggested a purple Ford Fiesta had been found in a ditch.

A man in his 50s was found inside the car and was taken to the hospital in Nottingham by ambulance where he is being treated for serious injuries.

The incident happened near Ratcliffe on the Wreake, Charnwood.

Enquiries are ongoing into the incident and detectives are appealing for anyone with any information in relation to the incident to make contact.

Detective Sergeant Ed Des-Chanelle, for Leicestershire Police, said: “We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances leading up to this collision.

“If you have been in the area this morning, please think back to any information you might have regarding the vehicle before or after the incident. If you have any information in relation to the collision itself, you should also make contact.

“We are also urging anyone with any dashcam footage from the area to check this and get in touch with us.

"Anyone with any information should contact 101 quoting incident 155 of 6 September."
