Man seriously injured after car ploughs into trailer and building in horror crash

A man was left seriously injured after a car ploughed into a trailer and building in a horror crash in Rossendale.

Officers were called to the Stoneholme Industrial Estate, Stoneholme Road at around 12.25am on Friday (May 12) following reports a Renault Clio had collided with a trailer, before then deflecting into a building.

One male passenger, in his 20s, suffered a number of injuries and has been taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition. A second male passenger in his 20s suffered a less serious head injury. The driver, a man in his 20s, suffered minor injuries.

Following enquiries, a 21-year-old man from Crawshawbooth has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving with excess alcohol. He remains in custody for questioning.

Anyone with any information or pictures or video footage of the collision are being urged to contact Lancashire Police who are investigating.

Sgt David Hurst, from our Road Policing Unit, said: “This collision has left a man with very serious injuries and my thoughts are with him and his loved ones at this time. We are working to establish the full circumstances which led to the collision and I would ask anybody with information or footage to contact the police.”
