Man seriously injured after car crashes off A48 at Bridgend into undergrowth

A man is in hospital with serious injuries after his car crashed off a main road in Bridgend.

The grey VW Polo crashed into undergrowth on the side of the A48 between Brocastle and Pentre Meyrick Cross shortly after midnight on Tuesday.

The car was heading in the direction of Bridgend.

South Wales Police said the 26-year-old male driver of the VW was taken to Princess of Wales hospital in Bridgend where he is undergoing treatment for serious injuries.



A 20-year-old female passenger in the vehicle was also taken to the Princess of Wales Hospital and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The carriageway was closed for approximately five hours while police carried out initial investigations and recovered the vehicle.

A spokesman for the police said thank the people affected by the closure for their patience and understanding.

Officers want to speak to any witnesses to the collision, anyone who may have dash cam footage or anyone who may have witnessed the manner of driving of the vehicle prior to the collision.

Witnesses are asked to contact the Roads Policing unit at Lakeside Police station on 101 quoting occurrence 1900153216.
