Man seriously injured after car crashes into wall and overturns in North Shields

A man is in hospital with serious injuries after a car overturned in North Shields.

Emergency services were called to the scene, near the Royal Quays, shortly after 6am on Saturday morning.

Police say that a car had collided with a wall and then overturned.

A man inside the car was taken to hospital in Cramlington with injuries that were described as serious but not life-threatening.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "At about 6.15am, May 25, police received a report of a collision near the Royal Quays, North Shields.

"Emergency services attended after reports an Infiniti Q50 had collided with a wall and was on its roof.

"A man was taken to hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries."

A spokeswoman for the North East Ambulance Service added: "We dispatched one double-crewed ambulance and transported a male patient to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital."
