A violent axe attack in west London left a man with life-changing injuries.
Police are investigating after incident occurred at around 10.20pm on Tuesday August 4, near Clitheroe’s Lock on the Brentford stretch of the Grand Union Canal.
Emergency services were called to Transport Avenue following reports that a man had been assaulted with an axe, and found a man in his 40s with serious wounds.
The man was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital, where his injuries were assessed as life‑changing.
The attack took place close to Lock 99, between Transport Avenue and Boston Manor Park.
Residents reported hearing shouting and screaming around the time of the incident, and a Met forensic team carried out a detailed search of the towpath, which remained closed on Thursday as officers continued their enquiries.
No arrests have yet been made, and police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information that could help identify the attacker.
