Man seriously injured after being struck by a car in Stretford

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a car in Stretford.

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a car on Chester Road.

The injured man was taken to hospital suffering from serious injuries.

A police spokesman said his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Chester Road was sealed off between Edge Lane and Barton Road following the incident, which took place at 7.25pm on Wednesday night.

Drivers were told to find alternative routes.

The road has since re-opened.

Eyewitnesses said there was a large number of police cars and road closures in the area.

Photos from the scene showed officers standing guard along the road.

There have been no reports of any arrests.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "There has been a report of a collision involving a pedestrian on Chester Road.

"A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries, not believed to be life-threatening.

"That happened at around just before 7.25pm."
