A man in his 30s suffered serious injuries after he was stabbed in Clayton on Saturday night.
Police were called to Canberra Street, a small residential road, at 10.20pm following reports of an attack.
The victim was rushed to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries, a police spokesman said.
No arrests have been made and an investigation has been launched.
A GMP spokesman said: "We were called at 10.20pm to Canberra Street in Clayton to reports of a man being stabbed.
"Officers were sent and found a man with serious injuries after being stabbed.
"The male adult, in his 30s, has been taken to hospital. His injuries are serious but not life-threatening.
"Enquiries are ongoing to find the person responsible."
