Man seriously injured after being hit by a car following street fight

A man has been seriously injured after being hit by a car following a street fight in the early hours.

The 25-year-old was run over in Bolton Street, Ramsbottom at about 1.25am on Saturday.

Police say moments earlier he had been 'involved in an altercation in the street with three other males resulting in a passing car, a blue Ford Fiesta, colliding with the victim causing serious injuries'.

Three men, two aged 25 and a 28-year-old, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault.

A 28-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of drug driving offences and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

All four remain in custody for questioning.

A large police cordon remains in place in Ramsbottom town centre on Saturday morning, stretching from Callender Street to Carr Street.

Forensics officers are at the scene.

A number of businesses inside the cordon have not been able to open while the investigation continues.

Love Cards and Gifts posted on Facebook: "Due to the accident which has happened we are not able to open up at the moment due the road being closed.

"If things change we will update you if the road opens and we’re able to open.

"Our thoughts are with the victim of the accident and family."

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.
