Man seriously injured after being attacked with a machete in Bury

A man has been seriously injured after being attacked with a machete in Bury.

The 40-year-old victim was attacked by a gang of thugs at a property in Ribble Drive, in the Walmersley area of the town, on Wednesday morning (December 30).

The group had burst into the property moments earlier, according to police.

The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

No arrests have been made, say Greater Manchester Police.

An investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the attack.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "Police were called to reports of an assault at a property on Ribble Drive, Bury at around 11.45am on Wednesday 30 December 2020.

"Offenders entered the property and assaulted a man with a machete.

"A man aged 40 was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

"No arrests have been made.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
