Man seriously hurt after trio smash him over the head with a metal post outside bar

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being hit with a metal post in an attack outside a bar in Stockport.

The 33 year-old victim was attacked by three men outside Boteega in Hazel Grove just after midnight in the early hours of Friday, July 24.

GMP say he was struck with a metal post during the assault, causing a serious head injury.

Emergency services attended the scene on London Road and he was taken to hospital.

He remains there in a stable condition.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

However police say their investigation is ongoing and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Matthew Tarr from GMP’s Stockport division said: “Our thoughts are with the man while he continues his recovery.

“While we have arrested one man, our enquiries are continuing.

“Did you witness the assault or did you see the moments leading up to it? If so, please contact police.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 9821 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
