Man seriously assaulted in 'nasty attack' in Scots town as cops launch manhunt

A 36-year-old man was rushed to hospital after being seriously assaulted in Rutherglen at the weekend.

Cops have now launched a manhunt to find a male suspect after the "nasty attack" on Farmeloan Road, near the M74 underpass, at around 9pm on Saturday.

The man was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and was treated for a serious facial injury.

Police are looking for the man who attacked him and describe him as being white, with a tall slim build and wearing a pink coloured t-shirt at the time of the attack.

Detective Constable Steven Totten, of Cambuslang Police Station, said: "This was a particularly nasty attack which has left the man with a significant facial injury.

"We are still trying to establish a motive for the attack and so would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Farmeloan Road, Rutherglen on Saturday evening around 9pm.

"Officers are checking CCTV at the moment and carrying out door to door enquiries.

"If you were in the area, or maybe driving by and have dash-cam footage, then please contact officers at Cambuslang CID on 101 quoting incident number 4109 of the 20 February or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
