A 53-YEAR-OLD man has been taken to hospital after he was seriously assaulted by two men with weapons in the Tollcross area of Glasgow.
Police said the victim was in his vehicle at about 9.30pm on Friday on Glenisla Street, less than a mile from the venue for the Commonwealth Games swimming events, when he was approached by two men who assaulted him.
The injured man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
The suspects, who were described as two white men in their 20s, made off in a white vehicle.
Detective constable Martin Howie said: “Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident, and we are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
“If you were in the area on Friday evening and witnessed a disturbance, or noticed anything at all suspicious, please get in touch.
“We would also urge anyone with dashcam or private CCTV footage to check in case it has captured anything which could be of significance.”
