Man sends thanks to mysterious nurse who jumped to rescue after he had heart attack at Take That 3Arena gig

A heroic nurse came to the rescue after a Cork man had a heart attack while at Take That in the 3Arena.

Gerry Griffin has sent his gratitude to the mystery woman who was first to respond after his "legs started to go" from under him.

The Cloheen man had been up in Dublin with his wife and daughter for the big concert and had been enjoying a brilliant night as Rick Astley rocked the stage.

Right before the main act came on, Gerry said he felt himself getting week, and next thing he knew he couldn't walk.

Speaking to Joe Duffy, he recalled sitting in the P area when the mystery woman rushed over and tened until the Order of Malta arrived.

He said: "I felt myself getting weak, my breath was going, and my legs started to go from under me.

"Now I don't know the woman's name, but she was a blonde haired woman sitting across from us on the other seats.

"She was a nurse and came to my aid. She helped me with my breathing because I was panicking at this stage.

"She stayed with me until people from the Order of Malta came up to me."

He went on to describe the great care he got from the rest of the medics, describing his treatment in the Mater as the best he's had anywhere.

He said: "They brought me down as far as the first aid room in the 3Arena then I had more paramedics come in and do different treatments.

"The minute I got into the Mater, and I have to say this, I've been in a few hospitals in my lifetime but nothing will compare with the Mater.

"The minute I went in to the area there were three doctors there."

Understandably, Gerry didn't get a chance to thank the woman or catch her name.

"She was with another lady, but I didn't catch it, my wife and daughter was so upset."

He's now recovering well out of hospital with himself and Duffy joking that he needs to stay away from Rick Astley in future.
