Man 'seen in River Clyde' as Glasgow cops search water and appeal for witnesses

Police are searching for a man who is believed to have entered the River Clyde.

Emergency crews descended on the area around Glasgow Bridge, near Jamaica Street in the city centre on Tuesday.

The alarm was raised at around 2.30pm after cops received reports of a man in the water.

Boats and a helicopter were drafted in to help with the search on Tuesday.

On Wednesday morning officers confirmed that the search was continuing.

Anyone with information and witnesses are being urged to come forward.

A Police Scotland spokesman told the Record: "Officers are resuming searches around the River Clyde today, following reports of a man entering the water near to Glasgow Bridge, at around 2.30pm on Tuesday, May 11.

"Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident 1746 of May 11."
