Man says wife should buy formula out of own pocket if she quits breastfeeding

A dad has come under fire online after telling his wife she would have to pay for baby formula from her own pocket if she wanted to stop breastfeeding.

The man originally posted on Reddit to say he wanted his wife to pay for replacement milk if she was going to stop feeding their baby herself.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the tight father deleted the post after receiving abuse but it was quickly shared on Twitter, reports the Mirror.

He wrote: "She has been breastfeeding for six months since the baby was born and now wants to switch to formula. She makes plenty of milk and everything she just says she 'feels done'.

"I think if she wants to stop for basically no reason then the money for formula should come out of the personal spending money because she is the one making the decision.

"She says I'm an a*****e and it should come from the family/grocery budget (which is already tight) even though I don't have a say."

The husband's suggestion wasn't taken kindly on Twitter.

One woman said: "She should invoice him for the hours spent nursing/pumping and take that out of his budget."

"Replace all the milk in the house with breast milk and tell him if he wants regular milk it comes out of his expenses," suggested another.

One reply read: "Breastfeeding is only free if you consider her time as worthless."
