Man says thieves drilled hole to steal full tank of fuel from his car

A man claims thieves drilled a hole in the fuel tank of his car to steal a full tank hours after he had filled up.

And he says both his and his neighbour's car were targeted at the same time on Sunday.

The crime came as fuel forecourts across the UK run out of petrol and diesel after panic buying at the weekend, reports BirminghamLive.

A spike in demand was sparked when fuel companies said they were restricting deliveries and closing some forecourts amid a problem delivering supplies - thanks to a shortage of HGV drivers.

The Petrol Retailers Association says some of its members are reporting up to 90% of forecourts running dry.

EG, which has 400 forceourts trading as BP, Shell, Esso and Texaco, is restricting drivers to buying no more than £30 of fuel at a time.

The Government is looking at changing laws to ease the problem.

Shadrack Olaloko said on Facebook: "What these guys did was they came and drained out all my fuel in the tank.

"My car uses diesel. Normally I lock my car, I don't joke with it.

"They made a hole in my tank. Can you see? They made a hole and drained out all the diesel. A full tank of diesel.

"They drained everything out and then they left."

He showed how the fuel cover on his car had been forced, and there were pools of what looked like duel on the ground beneath his car, and in the space next to his.
