Man says he will never to return to Burger King after finding mould on bun in Weston-super-Mare

Burger King has insisted "food safety is a top priority" after a man claimed he found mould on a bun at the Weston-super-Mare branch.

Isaac Chalk visited the fast food restaurant in Sovereign Shopping Centre last Friday (April 12) to pick up lunch for his colleagues.

The 24-year-old then went back to his office and began eating his Chicken Bacon King burger when he said he spotted something on the bottom of the bun, reports Somerset Live .

Why Mastercard could have to payback almost every UK adult £300

"I'd eaten a large part of it before noticing the mould - it was disgusting," he said.

"I went back and they refunded me, but they considered that the end of the matter.

"I also asked for assurances that the rest of the batch of rolls would be thrown away."

Mr Chalk says he then contacted Burger King's head office to complain.

He continued: "They say it's an independently owned branch and I pointed out it's their logo on the door.

"The council have responded really well to it, however."

Mr Chalk, who works nearby, has vowed not to return following the incident - no matter what.

"I'm never going back again," he said. "I was offered vouchers but I told them that, unless they're for McDonald's, I won't be using them."

Burger King's response

A spokesperson for Burger King said: “Food safety is a top priority for the Burger King brand.

"We are investigating the alleged incident at our Weston-super-Mare restaurant and will be working directly with our franchisee, who independently owns and operates this location, to ensure these standards are maintained.”

The branch has a rating of 2.5 on TripAdvisor and is listed as the 247th best place to eat in Weston-super-Mare, out of 265.
