Man says he took knife into busy hospital 'because he lives in a forest’

A man who has admitted taking a knife into a busy hospital claims he had it because he “lives in a forest”.

Daniel Gauci, pled guilty at court this week after he was charged with possession of a knife in a public place.

The 42-year-old claimed he had the three-inch lock knife because he has ‘ been living in a forest and up a mountain ’.

Gauci was charged after visiting the Dolgellau and Barmouth District Hospital on January 21.

Before he made his plea from the dock at Caernarfon Magistrates Court, Gauci said: “I did not brandish my knife. I have been living in a forest and up a mountain.”

But court officials said today’s hearing was only for him to enter a plea, according to North Wales Live.

Magistrates ordered a pre-sentence report to be prepared by the Probation Service.

They adjourned the case for sentencing at the same court until March 14.

They granted Gauci unconditional bail until then.
