Man saved from Twinbrook river suffering from head injury and hypothermia

A member of the public has helped save the life of a man who police believe had been lying in a West Belfast river for up to 15 hours

He has suffered a head injury which was treat by the emergency services.

And it is also thought he potentially had hypothermia.

A member of the public who spotted the man in the Summerhill area of Twinbrook called police for help when he made the discovery this afternoon.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "Many thanks to the quick thinking member of the public who contacted Woodbourne LPT after sighting a male lying in a river in the Summerhill area of Twinbrook.

"It appears this male had been lying out exposed to the elements since approximately 2100 hours on 23/11/19.

"Paramedics and police attended and the male was given medical treatment for a head injury and potential hypothermia.

"We appreciate your help and support.

"To the thoughtful member of the public who made the phonecall, thank you. You may well have saved this lucky man's life."
